Arona. Lakeside

Pubblicato : Vendredi, 1 décembre, 2023 - 15:30

This lakeside promenade gives us a splendid view of the Rocca Borromea of Angera, which towers exactly on the opposite side of the lake. In addition to the view, constant work over the years has made this lakefront more and more beautiful and pleasant to walk along. A playground, a large fountain, a wooden walkway, as well as a series of monuments, bars and cafés are just some of the pleasant encounters that lead to the pergola of wisteria, the grand finale of this lovely walk.

Pubblicato : Vendredi, 1 décembre, 2023 - 11:29

Mount Mesma, which stands on a hill 576 metres above sea level, is home to a peaceful 17th-century Franciscan monastery and its church. The panoramic view from the churchyard is very impressive and draws the eye not only to the nearby village of Orta San Giulio, but also to the Monte Rosa massif. In summer, the Fraternity of Monte Mesma proposes a number of spiritual activities for all those seeking time to dedicate to prayer, silence and meditation surrounded by the natural beauty of a place that can be easily reached by car or on foot.

Gozzano. Tower of Buccione

Pubblicato : Jeudi, 30 novembre, 2023 - 19:33

A picturesque lake like Lake Orta lacks only a castle to become the living representation of a fantasy saga atmosphere. But the lake does have a castle of its own, that of Buccione. Commonly called the Buccione Tower, being in fact the only element still visible of the ancient stronghold. Initially attributed to the Lombard era, it actually seems to date back to a much later period, 12th-14th centuries, as a symbol of the independence of the San Giulio Riviera.

Omegna. Gianni Rodari Park

Pubblicato : Jeudi, 30 novembre, 2023 - 16:57

Gianni Rodari is certainly Omegna's most famous son and this museum is dedicated to him, the writer, journalist and poet. The itinerary of the institute takes visitors to experience new models of didactics and dissemination of intangible heritage, all based on a novel narrative itinerary on Rodari's life and poetry. The museum is located in the heart of Omegna's historic centre and can be reached along a small uphill road, like the Nigoglia, the stream that runs through the town, a rare example of a watercourse flowing northwards.

Omegna. Lakeside

Pubblicato : Jeudi, 30 novembre, 2023 - 14:23

Omegna dominates the northern part of Lake Orta. As you walk along its lakeside promenade, you can admire the northern end of the lake, with its long, tapered shape, as well as the centre and arcades of this town, known in the past for its industrial production in the housewares branch. The promenade extends on both sides of the lake until it culminates in the true centre of Omegna, and the northern end of the lake itself: Piazza XXIV Aprile, where, on a flowery bridge, the lake intersects with the Nigoglia, its emissary stream.

Madonna del Sasso. Sanctuary

Pubblicato : Mercredi, 29 novembre, 2023 - 20:09

If you are looking for a breathtaking view, encompassing the entire Lake Orta, you should not miss what is known as 'the balcony of Cusio'. In fact, this beautiful sanctuary is located right at the top of a sheer cliff, at a frightening height, which affords views of the lake and the Alps framing it that are difficult to repeat. A visit is recommended not only for this belvedere, but also for the religious complex of the Sanctuary, a remarkable 18th-century work in the Greek cross style of Baroque.

Pella. Lakeside

Pubblicato : Mercredi, 29 novembre, 2023 - 18:12

Far from the tourist crowds and mass tourism typical of its more famous neighbour Orta San Giulio, Pella boasts as its jewel its lakeside promenade. A wide, sun-drenched promenade, directly on the lake, enjoying a splendid view of Orta San Giulio and its island, which stand right in front of it. Note, almost at the end of the walk, a well-preserved tower. On the other hand, for those wishing to visit Orta, many frequent ferries reach it from here in just a few minutes.

Orta San Giulio. Legro

Pubblicato : Mercredi, 29 novembre, 2023 - 16:20

If you are visiting our beautiful lakes but are looking for something truly alternative, you cannot miss Legro, a small hamlet of Orta. Since 1998, in fact, it has become an interesting tourist destination thanks to the beautiful frescoes that colour its historic centre. Free interpretations of the works of the local poet Gianni Rodari and of films shot on the shores of Lake Orta constitute the inspirational themes of the 'murals' that illuminate the walls of the houses in the small centre.
