Quando:

Also this year, 13 to 16 April the scene is the Good Friday of Romagnano Sesia, now in its 259th edition.

As tradition, which began back in 1729, Romagnano Sesia revives to participants the history of the Passion of Christ. 350 actors and extras in period dress, are the highlights of the life of Jesus, through the streets of country.

For three days of itinerant representations of 14 paintings recited in as many places transform this country of the Novara province into a modern Jerusalem.

The Sacred Representations of Good Friday of Romagnano are considered one of the most remarkable social phenomena of cultural heritage of the Novarese and Piedmont.

Sacred Representation of Romagnano Sesia originates in April 17, 1729, Easter Sunday, with the establishment of the Brotherhood of Blessed Enterro, a term derived from the Spanish entierro, meaning "burial" in reference to the Holy Sepulchre.

It seems that the Brotherhood, headed by a prior annual appointment, was composed of thirty-three men among the most prominent personalities of the village. The documentation of the eighteenth century testifies that the only function of the brotherhood was to be carried in procession on the evening of Good Friday, the statues of the dead Christ and the Virgin of Sorrows.

Until the Sixties on Good Friday has had an annual basis, but the grandeur of the event, more and perfected over the years, imposed the Committee to establish a biennially in odd-numbered years since 1971.

In recent years the development of the Representation has hired a course virtually consolidated by involving more than three hundred actors and extras, dressed in the costumes of the time of the Gospels.
