Arona. San Carlone
Pubblicato : Tuesday, 5 December, 2023 - 13:45
There are not many towns that can boast a gigantic cusctode angel watching over them. The majestic statue of St Charles Borromeo towers on the hill not too far from the town centre of Arona. More than 23 metres high, with a pedestal of almost 12, it is one of the tallest indoor statues in the world, second only to the Statue of Liberty. Thanks to its openings at eye level, ears and from small windows along its robe, it is possible to admire the view of the lake.

One cannot say one has visited Arona before having walked along Via Cavour, more commonly called 'Budello' by the people of Arona. This town street, particularly narrow in places, is the undisputed hub of the historic centre. One enters a beautiful pedestrian precinct where the town's main shopping centre is concentrated, with historic and prestigious shops. At the end of the street, the view opens onto Piazza del Popolo, directly overlooking the lake.

Arona. Lakeside
Pubblicato : Friday, 1 December, 2023 - 15:30
This lakeside promenade gives us a splendid view of the Rocca Borromea of Angera, which towers exactly on the opposite side of the lake. In addition to the view, constant work over the years has made this lakefront more and more beautiful and pleasant to walk along. A playground, a large fountain, a wooden walkway, as well as a series of monuments, bars and cafés are just some of the pleasant encounters that lead to the pergola of wisteria, the grand finale of this lovely walk.

Gozzano. Tower of Buccione
Pubblicato : Thursday, 30 November, 2023 - 19:33
A picturesque lake like Lake Orta lacks only a castle to become the living representation of a fantasy saga atmosphere. But the lake does have a castle of its own, that of Buccione. Commonly called the Buccione Tower, being in fact the only element still visible of the ancient stronghold. Initially attributed to the Lombard era, it actually seems to date back to a much later period, 12th-14th centuries, as a symbol of the independence of the San Giulio Riviera.

Omegna. Gianni Rodari Park
Pubblicato : Thursday, 30 November, 2023 - 16:57
Gianni Rodari is certainly Omegna's most famous son and this museum is dedicated to him, the writer, journalist and poet. The itinerary of the institute takes visitors to experience new models of didactics and dissemination of intangible heritage, all based on a novel narrative itinerary on Rodari's life and poetry. The museum is located in the heart of Omegna's historic centre and can be reached along a small uphill road, like the Nigoglia, the stream that runs through the town, a rare example of a watercourse flowing northwards.

Omegna. Lakeside
Pubblicato : Thursday, 30 November, 2023 - 14:23
Omegna dominates the northern part of Lake Orta. As you walk along its lakeside promenade, you can admire the northern end of the lake, with its long, tapered shape, as well as the centre and arcades of this town, known in the past for its industrial production in the housewares branch. The promenade extends on both sides of the lake until it culminates in the true centre of Omegna, and the northern end of the lake itself: Piazza XXIV Aprile, where, on a flowery bridge, the lake intersects with the Nigoglia, its emissary stream.
